![]() ![]() As the game continues, players learn new skills and techniques, equipping Neo for the final showdown with Agent Smith. He has to find his way through by stealth and basic brawl. Īt the start of the game, the player is hacker Thomas Anderson, and does not possess any of the powers that the character will later discover as Neo. Most of these sequences, picked by the movie directors themselves, are taken from the first film in the series. The Matrix: Path of Neo allows the player to participate in many of the major action scenes in the films. The game received mixed reviews from critics. Players control the character Neo, participating in scenes from the films. The game was written and co-directed by the Wachowskis, who wrote and directed the first three The Matrix films and the 2003 video game Enter the Matrix, also developed by Shiny Entertainment. By using desire and fear to control those within the Matrix (such as the fear of losing someone), he realised that the "worse we treat you, the more energy" we get.The Matrix: Path of Neo is a 2005 action-adventure video game developed by Shiny Entertainment and published by Atari. ![]() The Analyst is essentially a combination of The Architect and the Oracle as he knows the value of human connection. So the decision was made to keep them "close, but not too close", which is why Neo and Trinity do cross paths in the current Matrix version, but they don't know each other. Any time he created a Matrix where they found each other, their powerful bond broke the Matrix and if they were too far apart, it didn't create the energy that was needed. The Analyst knew that he could use Neo and Trinity's bond to solve the energy crisis, but it wasn't an instant fix. The Analyst then resurrected them using resurrection pods created by Sati's parents and plugged Neo and Trinity back into the Matrix, using them as a source code to build a new iteration. Sensing the power in Neo and Trinity's connection, he persuaded his machine bosses to let him take their bodies. This led to a civil war among the machines because as more humans unplugged themselves, energy became scarce and it was this fighting that led to The Analyst's rise in power. The Analyst is a program who was there when Neo sacrificed himself to create a peace between humans and machines. He's doing everything he can to make Thomas believe that the Matrix is just a game, including prescribing blue pills for Thomas to take (a red/blue flag if ever we saw one). ![]() It turns out that it's all the doing of The Analyst (Neil Patrick Harris) who we first meet in the movie as Thomas's therapist. The pods are separate from the farm where the machines are harvesting human energy as per usual, but it's not immediately clear why. Neo is the first to wake up in the real world and when he's in his pod, he spots there's only one pod opposite him, containing Trinity's body. They are, of course, back in a new iteration of the Matrix and it's revealed that, in the real world, it's been 60 years since the end of Revolutions. When we meet them again, Neo is back to being games developer Thomas Anderson, creator of the celebrated Matrix games, and Trinity is Tiffany, a married mother of three. First thing's first, they absolutely are the same Neo and Trinity that we fell in love with during the original trilogy.
